Good Shepherd Catholic School is a private, faith-based school in Congress Park. Since its founding in 1982, when St. Philomena and St. John the Evangelist parishes joined to form the Church of the Good Shepherd, its tradition of excellence has continued. In 2003, Good Shepherd opened a beautifully renovated campus, where it celebrated the history and traditions of the original St. John’s School building with the addition of a new, state-of-the-art school and Parish Family Center. The school is academically strong, emphasizing the importance of learning. There is a low student-teacher ratio, which enables children to get the individualized attention they need. The rigorous academic program offers creative pursuits and hands-on learning experiences, providing a competitive edge with smaller classes, an emphasis on experiential learning and individualized attention. The goal is to develop student self-discipline, confidence and problem-solving skills needed to succeed. They offer various academic, vocational and athletic programs to challenge the academic and extracurricular abilities of the students.

This was the best experience I could have ever hoped for in a Middle School. The teachers are excellent and greatly prepare you to succeed in a college prep high school. The culture is warm and welcoming. I'm very fortunate that my mom choose Good Shepherd.

We tried public school two separate times, once for kindergarten in a very affluent neighborhood and once for middle school. Both of our public school experiences w...

I was a little nervous bringing my child in for middle school because he didn't know many kids and isn't Catholic. But we all felt so...
