Park Hill Elementary School is located in a beautiful, Mediterranean style building at 5050 E. 19th Ave., just two blocks from the Park Hill branch of the Denver Public Library. Established in 1893, the school serves kindergarten through the fifth grade, and offers a pre-kindergarten half-day program. Originally known simply as Park Hill School, this school is highly ranked and well-regarded within the community. Average test scores are well above the state average, including among low-income and underserved students. The campus is an historic building in with a courtyard and mature trees. It features a playground, baseball diamond, sports fields, and a school garden. The academic program offers the basic curriculum of math, science, language arts, and social studies, but with a whole child approach. The Collaborative School Committee, consisting of faculty, family members, and community representatives, meets regularly to improve on the curriculum. In addition, the school offers enrichment classes in art, physical education, drama, and dance. Students are supported at all levels of achievements, and the school offers Gifted and Talented, English Language Development, and Special Education programs. Park Hill Elementary takes a fun and unique approach to fundraising. Outdoor movie nights, ticket sales to Colorado Rapids home games, local restaurant sponsorships, and auctions are just a few of the ways that Park Hill Elementary engages with the community.

My dear niece attended kindergarten here.We had an immense amount of troubles with her suddenly not waiting to go back to school. After seeking outside counseling, it became apparent that the "teaching style" of her instructor was causing her to feel shame and be fearful. This was heart breaking. We...

The school offers a standard fare public school education. Class sizes are typical, instruction is inconsistent across grade levels and within grade levels. Behavior management is handled in a more traditional fashion. The school is located in a middle class neighborhood. Most children do not qualif...

We were a voluntary mid-year transfer (something DPS does NOT want students to do) and we were greeted with open arms by the school administration, teachers, and community as a whole. While there is a whole lot of "teaching to the test" at Park Hill, I think that's a district-wide problem. The princ...

We have 3 children in attendance at Park Hill and are very pleased with their education. Their teachers have been great and really know each of them. They are appropriately encouraged to continually improve, accentuating their strengths and identifying areas where more work is needed. The community...
