The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Overall, Shepherd Hill is a pretty good school, but there is a lot I would change if I could. First of all, there are barely any school events. The school is very run-down and could use some work. The school does very little to help with college preparation. Shepherd Hill does offer a lot of clubs and electives. We have an award-winning show choir and a well-funded Biomedical Innovations Program. Honestly, I wish this school would pay more attention to it's students and their needs.

I find Shepherd Hill to be a perfectly respectable school. I liked my classes during my freshman year, and although I didn't like all of my teachers, I learned a lot from my classes. As for my experiences with other students, I found them fine. They acted in the ways I expected them to, being typical ninth graders. I really do like this school.

The best part of my experience is the energy some of my favorite teachers bring to class each day. You can tell they're truly passionate about their subject and enjoy sharing their knowledge. I've also had a very rewarding experience in Shepherd Hill's marching band and color guard. The worst part of my experience has to be that the food served at Shepherd Hill often isn't very appetizing.

I had a terrific experience as a former student at this school. Both the teachers and students were motivated to teach and learn. There were all sorts of great extra curricula activities and the school felt pretty unified for its size.
