Los Encinos School is an elementary school located in the Encino neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. This private elementary school provides education to students in kindergarten up to sixth grade.
With not only an emphasis on, but an entire ethos surrounding small class sizes, Los Encinos School serves less than 200 students total. By creating an environment with only one class per grade and a small student body, Los Encinos School not only promises individual attention, but also fosters a sense of community throughout the school. Los Encinos students even participate in a buddy system, where students from upper grades are matched with students from lower grades.This creates an environment of connection, confidence, and friendship.
Beyond general academics, Los Encinos School offers students a well rounded curriculum including education in fine arts, dramatic arts, library studies, and computer science. The school’s impressive facilities include an outdoor performance space, two science labs, a technology lab, and two outdoor gardens.
Los Encinos School also works to expand the world of their pupils by offering students a chance to interact with the community outside of the school. All students take part in this volunteer service program, where projects last the entire school year.
Los Encinos School was established in 1980 and founded by Chris Holabird. Passionate about childhood, Holabird built the school’s curriculum around honoring this special time. While the Head of School has changed and Ilene Reinfield now runs the school, the school’s values and dedication to childhood have stayed intact.
