I started coming to Houston High School Sophomore years. I was welcomed from day one with new friends and teachers. The students and faculty are great at being one big school. There's enough diversity to where you can be friends with multiple friend groups and not feel like you are clashing with them. I have some great relationships with the teachers as well. One of my teachers from two years ago still helps me with any math homework or problems I have. The support of the college and career office is great too. Mrs. Schmitt has been one of the most helpful people to work with and talk to while I'm figuring out what to do in life.

Houston High School is a good school in a good area. There are lots of opportunities in sports, the arts, and various clubs for students to join. There are lots of academically rigorous programs to take advantage of.

The best parts of Houston High School was how much effort the teachers put into the students and all the resources given to us to get the best academic footing for college. It also gave us many AP, honors, and dual enrollment classes that allowed us to challenge ourselves more. The worst parts were how administration dealt with certain events but at the end of the day they were all well-meaning.

We moved to Germantown for the schools, and had one daughter (freshman) go to Houston High and the other (senior) the Germantown Online Academy. Two vastly different experiences. Our senior in online program - fabulous. Houston High was a terrible experience for our 15 year old who made great grades...

This school isn’t for African American children! The principals don’t respond to emails. My daughter had a terrible experience here. She was bullied because of her hair texture and glasses. No diversity and the children who are black have been around white people so long that they act like them too....

This is a great school and I would recommend it to parents. However I think that since this school does focus so much on academic excellence (their motto is “Excellence. Daughter just graduated after 4 years at HHS. GREAT teachers and huge number of AP and dual enrollment classes. My daughter entered college with over 30 hours of credit. Very high average ACT school (highest ACT average school district in the state of TN).
