Located on Lake Street, Benjamin Franklin Elementary School offers classes for students in kindergarten to sixth grade. With over 600 students and 24 full-time teachers, this public elementary school currently maintains a student-to-teacher ratio of 25-to-1. Designated as an International Foreign Language Academy Magnet School, the faculty gives dual immersion teaching and learning in Italian, French, Spanish and German. Weekly music classes are given for students in kindergarten through third grade while the school also offers special education programs, before and after school care and a Gifted and Talented Educational (GATE) program. The school has two volunteer-run organizations. The Franklin Parent Teachers Association focuses on parent education, public education advocacy and community building. The Benjamin Franklin Elementary Foundation raises funds to support programs such as the music and visual arts, environmental education and community activities like Film Fest and STEAM Faire. The school also has a commendable passion for environmental sustainability. The Franklin Green Team is a parent-led group that helps cultivate climate-ready and native plant gardens that double as outdoor classrooms. The Franklin Green Lunchroom has a waste sorting program where students learn to sort food, trash and recycling at mealtimes. Benjamin Franklin Elementary is also very proud to share that its newest building uses solar panels to lower the school's carbon footprint.

This is a special school but requires a very careful consideration. Grades K-3 students are supported and encouraged. The school community is strong. Academics are decent. Maths is adequate.
