HERITAGE CHRISTIAN SCHOOL DESCRIPTION
Opened in 2010, the private Heritage Christian School is a ministry of the L.A. Pentecostals Church in Bell Gardens, serving 30-40 students in grades K-12 with a student teacher ratio of 8:1, and seeking to provide a quality K-12 education in a Christian environment. The school’s emphasis is on applying Biblical principles to every part of daily life, with a focus on the greatness of America’s heritage and the sacrifices of its heroes. Heritage Christian School’s individual-based curriculum encourages all students to perform and excel at their appropriate level. Students work both independently and cooperatively, and develop their talents through involvement in chapel services and special programs. High school students develop computer skills with online training courses. In order to graduate, students must have completed classes in world history, U.S. history, and government/economics; math including Algebra I, geometry, and Algebra II; two years of laboratory science in at least two of the three disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics; a Bible elective to include Pentecostal Doctrine and Old and New Testament Surveys; speech; college prep advanced electives including one year of chemistry, physics or pre-calculus; two years of a language other than English. Students also participate in physical education, a health class, and art or music.
