Home to a state-of-the-art SPARK Park, Landis Elementary School enrolls about 750 students in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade. Its students follow the institution’s motto, seeking to remain both positive and professional in all endeavors.
One reason for Landis Lions to remain positive is the school's new SPARK Park partnership between the school and the community. Open during the day for the students, the park provides the Alief community with much-needed green space when school is out.
All SPARK Parks include playground equipment, picnic tables, walking trails, public art, trees and outdoor classrooms. Within those parameters, the school and community design their park. From its welcoming, eye-catching entrance arch to its shaded playground equipment, students and community members love their park and take full advantage of it.
Landis students also enjoy their CIA program. CIA, which stands for Children Interacting Afterschool, is open to students in first through fourth grades. The grant-funded program is free for parents and guardians and offers social, emotional, physical and academic development opportunities for several hours after school.
In the theme of remaining positive, students at Landis are making above-average academic improvement compared to previous years. With the help of a dedicated faculty, young learners strive to achieve goals both large and small throughout the school year.
