When dedicated teachers founded this school in 1997, they realized that it’s easier for children to learn when they are having fun. The concept of teaching through joyful interaction became the focus of the private school. All kindergarten through eighth grade students attending this school have learning differences, and most have struggled in traditional classrooms.
Faculty at The Joy School help students understand themselves as learners, speak up and develop confidence. Small classes of only seven or eight students make it easy for teachers to provide one-on-one assistance, and the school employs full-time speech-language pathologists for students who need them.

Teachers at The Joy School focus on remediating basic skills so students can return to traditional classrooms with no special accommodations. My daughter attended The Joy School summer school program due to struggling in math at her mainstream school. We are still seeing the amazing impact after a full semester back in her home school. Not only is she so much more confident in herself as a learner, but she made so much academic progress in such a short amount of time. The most surprising part is she is still talking about how much fun she had and planning her summer camp schedule around going back again this year.
