I should have left the school when I had the chance for my sophomore year, however, I wanted to stay with friends and was unaware that prioritizing friends rather than my academics would be a major setback. The school wasn't the best environment that I would like to be in when thinking of having to go to school, it was so chaotic and unorganized and just overall made a negative impact on my mental health. on top of the school being an IB school and being someone who didn't take my classes seriously because my teachers from sophomore year made me feel like I couldn't be successful academically.

I feel as if Shortridge High School is a very welcoming high school. Coming from a K-8 school, I was used to the same teachers and students, not ready for a big change. Shortridge did a very good job of making me feel welcome, and even put on an event only for freshman leading up to the first day of school. It was called "bridge week" to help bridge the gap from our middle school to high school. Since then, Shortridge has been a great place for my education to grow and to meet amazing people. Shortridge also makes community service a big deal and has requirements put into place to ensure students are doing adequate amounts of service.

The principal is rude and arrogant. The school is out of control. The school has no dean or behavioral specialist and students do as they please.

Please note the sources used for much of this site are based on 2015 information. Shortridge is now a 100% International Baccalaureate program and prepares students very well for college or the world after high school. I encourage you to visit the school to see it for yourself. Shortridge turned into an International Baccalaureate Magnet in the fall of 2015. My son started as a freshman and we absolutely love it. Love the IB curriculum, the staff and principal! The information about sports and clubs on this site right now is inaccurate. Shortridge also has a strong emphasi...
