Experience living history at Coon School in rural Ionia County. One of the three traditional schoolhouses still operating in the county, Coon School provides multi-grade education to students from kindergarten through eighth grade. As a small schoolhouse, Coon offers unique learning opportunities for children of different ages and abilities. Coon School was established in 1866. The wood-frame schoolhouse includes a bell tower and has undergone several renovations throughout the years. These provided updated interior amenities for a modern learning environment for students. An outdoor playground offers recreational opportunities for young learners. Located on South State Road just north of Interstate 96, Coon School is ideally situated in the heart of Ionia County. Parents are encouraged to drive their children to school and pack a lunch since these services aren’t provided. They can also take an active role in their children’s education by helping with field trips and extracurricular activities. Thanks to the small overall student population at Coon School, students receive more individualized instruction. Older students set a great example in this welcoming community by helping younger students with lessons and homework.

This schools name is not only a racial slur it’s not a very inclusive school. There is no diversity within the school what so ever. Children should not be put in a school from an early age that hinders there real world experiences and does not show them equality.

Staff has double standard with students. If your child isn't friends with tbe "clique", they will be punished.
