Pine Estates Elementary School is known as the S.T.E.A.M Academy. This school offers prekindergarten through fifth grade and extended-day programs that integrate science, technology, art and math throughout the curriculum. Students participate in the Engineering is Elementary (EIE) program, and daily science instruction is incorporated into all subjects.
The school’s motto is “Moving Full Steam Ahead." Students are encouraged to join an after-school activity like the science club or the chess club, which helps students learn to think strategically and plan and understand the consequences of decisions. Fifth-grade girls can also join the Sparkler’s club, which aims to help girls build self-confidence, cultivate a positive attitude and learn to take pride in giving back to the community.
This neighborhood school of around 200 students is part of the Duval County Public School system, and teachers work closely with parents to form a partnership and inspire students to be lifelong learners. The core academic curriculum is supplemented with physical education and music. Students and faculty rally around the school mascot, the Road Runner, to enjoy special events and holidays and celebrate student and faculty achievements.
