GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I have attended Johnstown School since pre-k. Johnstown schools is a close community and the teachers are like my family. The best part of my Highschool experience has been being part of digital medial class and also having time to mentor the middle school students coming into highschool. The worst part was when I had an accident taking the state phys. ed test and broke both of my legs. I suffered from bi-lateral tibial tubercle fracture. This injury was very signficant and I was out of school for 3 months. When I was able to return Covid 19 pandemic occured and school was closed for another year. I feel being away from my classmates was something that made me grow as a person and was an experience I consider as my worst at JHS.

Johnstown High School was a good experience but there seemed to be more focus on sports than academics or other clubs.

There are a wide variety of extra-curricular activities available to students. Student participation could be higher in the smaller, not so popular clubs. But overall the activities are well and available.

The teachers are decent and try very hard to provide a good learning environment. The administrative staff at this school needs to be removed. The principal has been there too long and attempts to remove him have failed thus far. Bullying goes unchecked despite teachers efforts to communicate with t...
