This public elementary school, located between Alicia Parkway and Paseo De Valencia in the heart of Laguna Hills, serves approximately 600 students between kindergarten and sixth grade. Lomarena Elementary School is one of the schools in the Saddleback Valley Unified School District.
Lomarena Elementary provides an exceptional experience for children that enables them to grow not just as learners but also as individuals. Utilizing research-based instructional strategies as well as equitable and innovative learning environments, Lomarena Elementary School is committed to providing science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) that is infused throughout the curriculum. The school’s Makerspace and STEM Lab provide additional opportunities for students to explore STEM-related activities and learning. Lomarena is a recipient of a 2022 California Pivotal Practice (CAPP) Award, in recognition of its innovative practices during the 2020–21 school year, when California required schools to offer distance learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lomarena offers students a district-sponsored Gifted and Talented Program (GATE) for upper elementary students that show extraordinary academic promise, ensuring that they receive highly engaging and enriching instruction. There are also high quality, before and after school programs for students that are offered through The Learning Connection. These programs help children further develop their social and emotional and physical skills as well as reinforcing what they learn in the classroom.
