Shaker is a large school that offers opportunities for high academics as well as very competitive sports. I wish they offered more AP classes such as pre-calc and allowed you to take an AP class such as Biology before having to take the Biology class. This limits how many AP science classes you can graduate with. The AP and honors teachers are great but I have had a non honors class where the teachers were not as good. Our athletic fields are not the best but they are renovations them this summer and with another turf field available. The conference we compete in is very strong. There are over 500 kids per class so the school is very large. They dont give you a ranking so you never know how yiu compare in your class. Instead they honor the top 5% of the class at graduation. This honor is based solely on GPA and Shaker does not weight classes. Therefore a student who took all regular classes could have a higher GPA then someone with all APs and be in that top 5% of the class.

Shaker High School in Latham, New York is an exceptional school. Its sports department is amazing and it has proved that time and time again. Its academics are average with a variety of electives to take. Overall, this school is a great place for kids to continue their education.

My experience with Shaker has been very positive. The music community is so accepting and there so many opportunities provided for volunteering and performing. Some of my favorite memories were made in the chorus room and with people I met through the music program.

Okay. Classes are going well, love my teachers, lunch is kinda lonely and I don't have many friends. The rotating 8 schedule is really stupid, confusing, and pointless, and the midmorning bagels are questionable. Sometimes they're nice and hot, and other times it's like biting into a rock.
