School to me has always been a safe haven and escape from the harsh reality of the world. In school, I can learn what I want, read what I want, and be who I want. Some people see school as a prison, where they are forced to go if they ever want to amount to anything. I see school as a place that will propel me forward into the career and future that I want. I was always the little kid with their nose in a book and a pen in their hand. When other kids would run around during recess, I would be seated on a bench with an anatomy book in my lap and about a million different thoughts running through my head.

If your child has an IEP or is advanced, then this is not the school for you. 1. Our son is enrolled as a 3rd grader; however, the ELA and Math classes he took from this school were just teaching kids how to add/subtract single digits and form 3 word sentences. Our son learned this at a public school called Grazide in the 1st grade. 2. Our son's IEP states that he is 2-3 grades above the current grade for ELA and math, so in this school, he is learning 5th grade ELA and 6th grade math, yet, we are not allowed to enroll our son in any 5/6 grade ELA or math classes that the school provides for free and is called LIVE (supplement) classes. Instead, we were told to use our IF funds to pay for places like Mathnasium; however, those funds run out real quick. 3. We have had 3 IEP meetings so far; however, when we invited people from other organizations to help us, the staff suddenly said the last 2 meetings were not IEP meetings and were just "Open Meetings." Then they want to delay..

I started Sky Mountain sophomore year behind credits and my ES helped me find the right programs for me and help me through tough work that confused me and thanks to her I was able to graduate on time
