Founded in 2000, the Milwaukee Academy of Science (MAS) was established to help close the gap for minority students interested in studying the health sciences. A tuition-free, public charter school, MAS now serves about 1,300 students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Today the mission is to provide a high-quality STEM education (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) for its mostly urban student population. A wide variety of afterschool programs are available for students of all ages through a partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. Afterschool programs include robotics, chess club, theater, fashion, visual arts, science and many more. High school students can compete in boys and girls basketball, track and field, football and cheerleading. A new $1.7 million gymnasium opened in early 2022, only months after the school added new classrooms, offices and STEAM labs. MAS is located in the Avenues West neighborhood, and transportation is provided for students throughout the Greater Milwaukee area.

This school is incredible with the college preparation and funding involvement. The sports like basketball, football, and track are bringing up good reputation for the school. The only thing the school really needs to make it more better for everyone is to have more clubs and extra activities after school or during school.

My overall experience here at Milwaukee academy of science was great I've learned lots of different things they have provided me with lots of resources to help me grow and even helped me get lots of different certificates to help me grow just in case I didn't want to go to college. So I am highly grateful for their help.
