For academics, this school is quite good, and I would recommend it. The teachers can be hit or miss; there are certainly some I do not believe should be teaching, while there are others that are fantastic at teaching. Ultimately a good school, and you'll receive a good education from it.

The best part of my experience was that I found my confidence and made my friend group without having to be a "popular" student. I wish they had more mental health awareness and would investigate the bullying from both staff and students.

It's a public school, with kids who are different from your own; this is a good thing. The teachers care, and it's an excellent community. As with many schools, the more involved your kids are, the happier they'll be.

I took IB courses, a couple AP, and graduated from Southwest back in 2010. If I were to move back to the twin cities area, I would absolutely opt for my future children to go to one of the suburban public schools (Edina, Minnetonka, Wayzata) or private schools like Breck/Blake.I think generally ther...

Our two daughters attended Southwest and graduated with the IB Diploma. They both attended Big Ten Universities and said they were more prepared for college than 95% of the other students in their classes.
