Founded in 1997, Life of Christ Christian Academy serves pre-kindergarten through grade 12, and is located at 1851 N. Dorgenois St. in New Orleans’ 7th Ward. This state-accredited private school prides itself on catering to individual students' learning preferences, encouraging them to engage with each subject in a more connected way. In fact, the school's learning policy asserts that they believe it best to teach each pupil in the way they can best learn. They also use a home school environment to maximize each student's one-on-one time with teachers.
The co-educational academy offers more than a highly individualized education. They teach responsibility, good citizenship, time management, and teamwork. For example, Life of Christ offers students the option to take off-campus lunches, ensuring they keep track of the time and act responsibly to make it to class themselves. The school also offers extracurricular activities and team sports, encouraging discipline and teamwork.
In regards to good citizenship, the academy encourages students to take active roles in their communities, having them build relationships and help revitalize their neighborhoods. Projects students have taken part in include cooking for Ronald McDonald House, volunteering for Gentilly Fest, and helping rebuild several New Orleans playgrounds.
