Located at 3131 Eton St. in New Orleans’ Old Aurora neighborhood, St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic School is one of a few institutions in the city to be accredited by two independent associations. Founded in 1953, the private school’s first major accreditation was in 2002, when it received its initial acceptance by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The second came in 2013, when St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic School was made a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. It repeated the honor in 2018. An application is required for admission. The school serves children from pre-K through seventh grade. Teaching in the Catholic tradition, it strives to educate the entire child and focuses on developing the mental, social, spiritual and physical aspects of students, according to its mission statement. Technology is one way the school provides hands-on experience to build practical skills. It is a Google School, meaning every student from fourth to seventh grade has a Chromebook for classwork. Students in lower grades are provided Chromebooks in the classroom for weekly technology lessons. The school also offers a variety of extracurricular activities and sports to support the children’s social, intellectual and physical health. Club sports include basketball, cheerleading, soccer and swim team. Fine arts and music are taught, as well.

My son started attending for 5th grade. Prior to 5th he was struggling in public school and acting out. Moving to SAS was the best decision we made. He gained confidence, a sense of belonging, and had a support system for academics. The foundation they have given him has allowed him to succeed through middle school and now on to high school.

We love the St. Andrew the Apostle Community! The faculty, staff, and students made us feel welcomed and at home when we moved to Algiers. We love the diversity of the students and faculty. The school offers an array of extra-curriculars and a rigorous curriculum. We couldn't be happier.

The school has gone through many changes over the last 10 years that I have had my children there. The school has been an excellent environment for my kids to grow spiritually and academically. The administration and teachers have always been receptive to all my concerns.
