I have worked at a couple of different school in my career and VCS is by far the most nurturing. Unlike some other schools, the students truly support each other and they are a joy to be around. My colleagues are brilliant, kind, and dedicated. I feel lucky to be involved with such a worth-while institution that cares about every person in its (beautiful) building. The head of school is a real gem too.

We are in our 8th year at VCS and it keeps getting better and better. Still the warm and caring community it always was with enthusiastic, kind and intellectually curious kids, but now with increased academic rigor. My kids LOVE school, which says it all.

The best thing about this school for my children is that the instruction rises to the level of the students. Both have had math, english, and science instruction far above grade level, thanks to the dedication of the incredible teachers. Of all the New York progressive schools we looked at, it had the strongest academic reputation. This was easily the best choice we could have made for our two children.

My biggest parenting regret is enrolling my children at VCS. The community is amazing - supportive and caring, but academically, it's not a very rigorous school, and my children were not challenged. If you value a strong academic program, this is not the right school for you no matter what they try...

Absolutely amazing. I’ve made so many important discoveries, felt supported while learning, and learned important life lessons. Would rate it 9.5 out of 10.
