Students in seventh and eighth grade who live within the Nordonia Hills City School District or qualify for open enrollment may attend Nordonia Middle School. With an enrollment of nearly 640 students, the middle school focuses on readying kids for success as they advance onto Nordonia High School and, ultimately, higher education or careers.
Located on Leonard Avenue in Northfield, the middle school campus features a historic building constructed in 1928. The 115,000-square-foot building originally served as the district's senior high school until the new high school was built in 1962.
Nordonia Middle School students can participate in a wide range of academics, extracurriculars and clubs, including student council, Science Olympiad, drama club, office aides and more. Athletics include basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, track, volleyball and wrestling. Because the school initially served as the district's high school, the campus features a practice field and track used by many of Nordonia's athletic teams.
Like the other schools in the district, Nordonia Middle School ranks relatively high according to the Ohio School Report Cards system. It earned a B grade overall, with high marks in the progress and gap closing components, indicating that the school is making significant strides in student performance.
