We've found the academics to be exceptional and continue to be impressed with the level of discussions they are having in classes. We are even more pleased with how Head-Royce prepares kids to be leaders and global citizens with knowledge and empathy. Very happy to send our kids here.

I think Head Royce is a good school overall and the academics are good enough to throughly prepare students to get into good colleges. The one thing that kind of annoys me is how politically biased the school is. They claim to create critical thinkers but in reality they just show everything purely from liberal perspectives and pretend like they are creating some revolutionary ideology while doing it. In reality they are just teaching common left wing perspectives and there is not much critical thinking to do with it.

I had an overall excellent experience as a student at Head-Royce. The teachers there are second to none and care a lot about the students. My intellectual curiosity and interests were fostered. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking an problem solving and I felt well prepared for college. The senior electives offered were especially great in my opinion because they allow students to learn in depth on topics of interest. I am still in touch with several of my teachers even more than 10 years later. The other part of my Head-Royce experience that I valued was the close-knit community. It was a very supportive environment and I made lifelong friends.

We were excited about sending our student to this school particularly the extensive focus on values, community, and welcoming environment. it turns out this feels like a strong marketing campaign with some needed action on the ground by the staff and senior students to make sure all students feel we...

This review is for the middle school only. Our children thrive in the challenging but supportive environment created by the middle school teaching team. They are strongly supported in SEL as well- the middle school years are tough! And parents, while not often invited on campus (which is just fine f...

The school is in decline. Standards have gone down. Bad teachers are not removed. There is little oversight of teaching standards. The focus is on discipline. Families who complain or want to participate in the child’s education are treated as liabilities. Socisl-emotional support is minimal and are...

We have now transitioned from Head Royce after attending the Elementary division for a couple of years. The pros are the art program, exposure to variety of language classes, small class sizes, secured campus and a group of individuals on staff and teachers that do really care. Drawbacks are too muc...
