The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

Lawless jungle. Some good academics, lots of terrible teachers and admin. Grateful for some bits but happy to be leaving.

Oakland Tech is a good school for Oakland, CA and has the foundation to prepare me for college. There are times where there are violence in the school due to external factors, but that is part of life living in a big city like Oakland. Some of the teachers/administrators don't provide good resources or have the patience to help the students out with their class schedules and providing information about colleges.

My oldest son is now getting ready to transfer to UC next fall and my younger son is currently a junior and enrolled in AP classes that are as challenging as any college class I’ve seen. I feel the curriculum has prepared both boys well for college. T...
