because the school was built recently the teachers are new and there is little culture. a lot of teachers are leaving this next school year which is very harmful to some of our programs, but with persistence we can build them up again. there is also little diversity.

High school was honestly a wild ride because of COVID. The only real full year was my freshman year because all the other years were online or hybrid. Even my freshman year was interesting because the school had only been open for two years before that. The best part of my experience at West was the unique learning environment. We had open classrooms, and we would rotate the rooms each day. So, I got to experience almost every room in the school. This helped keep me engaged in my classes. One thing I would like to see change is how the staff handles racism. There have been many scenarios where a white student is calling a black student names and when the black student stands up for themselves, they get in trouble instead of the white student. I don't think it's fair that the black students at this school don't have the same support as the white students. The staff could do a better job at creating a welcoming environment for every student and setting better standards.

I moved here in the beginning of the 2021/2022 school year from Alabama and was looking for a high school to attend. I toured the school and knew that it would be perfect for me. It was built in 2017, so very modern in terms of facilities. They have a heavy focus on technology in the curriculum and offer many unique classes that i could not take anywhere else. Overall, it is a very good school and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a school to attend in Johnson County.
