St. Pius X/St. Leo Elementary School is a private Catholic school located at 6905 Blondo St., in the Benson neighborhood of Omaha, Nebraska. The school lies adjacent to Bowling Green Park on the park’s east side. Serving students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, St. Pius X/St. Leo currently enrolls 707 students with a student - teacher ratio in the classroom of eighteen to one.
With Chromebooks and SMART boards available for use in every classroom, St. Pius X/St. Leo is able to keep students on the cutting edge of technology. In addition, the school offers training in computer coding during school-wide “Hour of Code” sessions, a computer science program that introduces programming in a creative way.
St. Pius X/St. Leo Elementary School is proud to offer a strong Catholic faith foundation, incorporating liturgical components into its daily curriculum, and over 80 percent of its students go on to enroll in a Catholic high School.
Athletics are a key component of the after school activities offered at St. Pius X/St. Leo, and those involved show their school spirit as the “SPSL Panthers”. Available to the students are four sports: basketball, soccer, track and field, and volleyball. Also offered are several extracurricular clubs including chess and robotics clubs, several choirs, band, and multiple quiz clubs.
In 2021, St. Pius X/St. Leo Elementary School ranked in the top 20 percent of private schools in Nebraska, and has produced over six thousand alumni since its beginning in 1956.

I love that the teachers get to know ALL of the students. Not just the students in the classroom. My kids love going to school and I love what they are learning and the caring environment they are in. The special education program is amazing too.

The counsellor is very good and will talk about anything with you. However, there is almost no sex Ed, and very few students ever take sex Ed classes in high school because many go to Catholic schools. The only things they talk about are abstinence-only, unrealistic options. Overall, health and safety is good.
