As a school with a California Gold Ribbon School distinction, Hillview Middle School offers classes for students in sixth through eighth grade. With over 900 students, this public middle school maintains a student-to-teacher ratio of 25-to-1. Students inside and outside the school district can apply to Hillview Middle School's 6th Grade Honors Academy and participate in an accelerated curriculum. Those struggling with their grades can apply to be part of the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program and learn skills to prepare them for success in college. Hillview Middle School works with the Boys Town program like all school sites within the Westside Union School District. Through advisory classes, they learn a Skill of the Week to aid with developing social skills and understanding more appropriate behaviors. Rounding out the school's outstanding educational experience, students can participate in various elective programs such as band, visual arts, robotics and Project Lead the Way classes. Their athletic teams, called the Hillside Hawks, compete in volleyball, cross country, a cheer program and more. Hillview Middle School has also been named a Unified Champion School by the Special Olympics organization.

This is the worst school my child has been to in Palmdale. The principal’s don’t do anything to protect your child. If your child is getting bullied, harassed, or being called a racial name and your child defends themselves your child will receive a detention and not the other student. There is cons...

I am a current student at Hillview and it’s not bad. But it’s also not good. I can tell you that the principal Mr Weber is very good. Same with Ms standford, Mr Boggs, Ms McMillan, and Ms Soto. Worst middle school to go to.Students use foul language , physical fights are common,too many disruptions in the classroom by some students who come to school just for passing their time.They just get a detention and they're happy to get it.The administration failed to take any action against them.
