Philip’s Academy Newark is a school district located in the University Heights section of Newark, New Jersey. There are two buildings as part of the school district, with the lower elementary building being located within University Heights. The school district serves about 500 students in grades pre-kindergarten to eighth. Students at Philip’s Academy are required to wear a uniform which is different for boys and girls in the lower elementary school. Girls wear a plaid jumper, grey pants and a white collared shirt, while boys wear grey pants, ties, and white collared shirts. The elementary school includes students in grades pre-kindergarten to fourth grade. Students at Philip’s Academy are part of classes with a student to teacher ratio of 16 to 1. In addition to academics, the school offers extracurricular activities like the Disney Junior club, which puts on performances throughout the school year. Philip’s Academy is a very active participant in community events as well, with school sponsored events like Slam Dunk the Junk and appliance recycling programs. OUtside of the classroom, students are often invited to local organizations like the Step Team, ice skating and much more. The school has been serving students since it opened its doors in 1988, recently celebrating its 35th year.

The school was great 3 yrs ago but for the 2018-2019 the school has went down hill my kid says the lunch is nasty mow the teachers talk to the kids however they want and my child barely gets homework i stopped recommending this school

One thing I'll tell you is that I hated THIS SCHOOL!!! They are late for delivering news. The students are rude and bratty. And all the good reviews come from Central. I actually needed thaprey so bad! Don't waste your time here trying to cope with all of it.

By far, Philip’s Academy Charter School is second to none in all areas. There are no other schools in the Newark area like it.
