Established in 1997, Maya High School touts itself as a small school offering a big experience. With a mission to help students who might not succeed as well in traditional high schools, the faculty here strive to help students build meaningful relationships in order to be successful adults. As a free public charter school, Maya offers block scheduling, evening classes, and a four-day school week to accommodate students who need more flexibility. Whether facing behavioral issues, adjudication, or personal life situations that make obtaining a high school diploma more challenging, students can find personalized attention and a community at Maya to help them feel more empowered no matter their circumstances. One of the school’s notable clubs is Maya Outdoors, which travels throughout the valley and Arizona on hiking trips, giving students the opportunity to explore nature and enjoy the outdoors. The school also promotes giving back to the community with the Maya Pack program. This valuable program allows students the chance to participate in blood drives, food drives, pep rallies, as well as various other team events. Additional benefits include credit recovery for students who are behind, free breakfast and lunch, academic support sessions, early graduation, free summer school, and reduced monthly bus passes.

Maya is a very small school so its a little bit crowded but there are many wonderful teachers and staff that work at our school that help with almost everything. Even though we're an alternative school its not really different from any other school around.

Their is barely any bullying in this school and when their is the teachers or administrative make sure it gets taking care of. The cameras are everywhere so that students can be safe. When students get sick or something they make sure they send them home or try to help. School is very safe and I love going there it always cleaned every night.

The food service is okay. The food is equal for every person to get food and enjoy it with something to drink with the food

I am a former teacher of Maya High School. If you are looking for a teaching teaching position--LOOK THE OTHER WAY!!! They have a high turn-over rate of teachers. There is a reason for that: the school is a mess. The administration is in denial of the fact that the students need direction and discip...
