The Bishop McVinney School was founded in 1973 by a group of parents and educators looking to create a regional school in order to save imperiled Catholic schools in the city of Providence. Bishop McVinney School has thrived in this role and continues to serve the Catholic educational needs of a diverse urban population in South Providence. From preschool through 8th grade, McVinney provides an organized and inspired education to its students, thanks to the administration, faculty, and parents devoted to the academic, emotional, and spiritual enrichment of their children. The school also has an active middle school athletics program, though students must meet academic requirements to participate. The school, also a licensed Day Care facility, offers before and after school programs as well as a summer program. "The school is like your family," says one review, "and the teachers do care, which is the best part. You don’t get that kind of attention at other schools."

At Bishop McVinney, students receive a strong foundation in both academics and the Catholic faith. I am honored to be part of the Bishop McVinney community as a teacher. All of the staff works together to provide the best educational and spiritual guidance to each of the students.

I would probably go back and focus on my grades more if I had the chance. The school is great. There are many things that can help a student find them self in God although there are a few things they need to change in regards to what they teach.

My daughter is in the 3 year old program this year and the school and staff are AMAZING! They truly go above and beyond and they love those kiddos so much. The care they provide is outstanding!

My son started in preschooler and He is now in fifth grade .The academic level is excellent,the camaraderie that exists with all the students is wonderful.I love it.

Bishop McVinney School is an outstanding that keeps getting better every year. They have a dedicated staff and faculty that cares deeply about each child. I would highly recommend Bishop McVinney School to any parent seeking a quality Catholic school education for their child.
