The Wheeler School, located in the College Hill neighborhood of Providence, was founded in 1889 by Mary C. Wheeler. This independent, co-educational college preparatory school enrolls students from pre-school through grade 12. Wheeler is an incredible school where students find themselves and learn the tools to thrive in life. As an alum who graduated in the late 90's, I still feel connected to the school and its people.

Absolutely the best private school in Providence. My children have been nurtured, met where they are and challenged to grow with support along the way. The Lower School faculty are beyond inspirational.

As an employee of Wheeler, I am very excited for the future with Mark leading the way. I am honored to be a small part of the experience, and look forward to the journey of growing Wheeler to greater heights across the board.

We came to wheeler from a very good private school in Rhode Island with high expectations. Mid-year, my son’s teacher got fired and replaced with a substitue. His teacher had been at wheeler for a long time, and this is not the kind of thing we expected from such a school. There seems to be a lot of...

It’s a great choice if you live in Providence and don’t get into classical. Otherwise, I’m not really sure if it’s worth the money. We live in Providence, and had one kid graduate from wheeler, and our other kid got into classical and will is at Yale now. The kid (they are twins) who went to wheeler...

We decided to transfer to Wheeler having heard it was strong in STEM. Unfortunately, we should have stayed where we were, in reality, it is actually weaker than where we transferred from. We had to join extra paid evening math and science programs for our child to continue excelling on his path to b...

I was really excited for my child to start at this school, but unfortunately, our experience has been very disappointing. One of the biggest concerns is the amount of bullying that goes unchecked. It seems to be a common issue, yet the school does very little to address it. There is also a noticeabl...
