Founded in 1967, Ruby F. Carver Elementary School was named after Ruby Fellows Carver, who was the first teacher at nearby Tuckahoe Elementary School in the 1940s. The school’s mission has always been to provide a safe and nurturing environment for students to learn the skills necessary to become successful. Carver Elementary educates students from preschool through fifth grade. It sits along Lauderdale Drive and is surrounded by residential neighborhoods.
The campus provides a computer lab and full library in addition to a playground, gymnasium and sports fields. There are gifted Programs available at Carver Elementary that include pull-out enrichment groups and accelerated class options. School clubs are another important aspect of student life, with Student Council, Library Helpers, Safety Patrols and After-School STEM being some of the options.
Carver Elementary continues to be a leader in local public school education as it inspires students to push themselves to be the best.

Great. There are many strong families represented at Carver and I believe that is because of the Principals family-centered approach. They care for their students and their families which has a positive impact on the community.

This school has been great in providing a well rounded, center focused education for my child. They have a great arts program and provide lots of amazing opportunities for community participation .

I have had 4 children graduate from Carver. I have had no issues and have been extremely satisfied with my children's education. 2 of my boys have IEPs, 1 which was developed while there at Carver.
