Previously named Henrico Central School, Mehfoud Elementary School was built in 1955 and is part of Virginia's Henrico County Public Schools District. It was initially one of several African American schools in Henrico County; however, in the fall of 1970, it reopened as an integrated school designed to house first and second graders from the nearby, overcrowded Varina Elementary. It was not until 1987 that the school received its new name, Anthony P. Mehfoud Elementary School, which comes from a former Henrico County Board Supervisor. Mehfoud Elementary serves students in prekindergarten through second grade only. The teachers believe in the value of constructive feedback for students. Embedded in daily instruction, feedback at Mehfoud is designed to validate student understanding, learn what areas students need additional support in and know how to provide clarification for misunderstandings. The Mehfoud Pandas can find enrichment in various school clubs and activities. They can be a part of art club, crafts club, jump rope club and more. There are even activities like spelling bees and safety patrol that they can get involved in.

This school is absolutely wonderful! The principal is very hands on and involved with all of the students. Reading is a priority and stressed at every level. I would highly recommend this school.
