Once an overcrowded elementary school serving students in prekindergarten through fifth grade, Varina Elementary School now serves students in third through fifth grade with younger learners in the grades below going to Mehfoud Elementary. Henrico County Public Schools has a Gifted Resource program that’s available at the school. This program is for students who, upon going through the multistep application process, may qualify for additional services provided by the school. Varina Elementary aims to nurture student curiosity and creative expression through various opportunities.
To also help nurture and encourage all students to love reading, the school holds a Summer Reading program that gives them access to various e-books that are appropriate for their grade and reading levels.
Research has proven that students do better when their parents get involved, and Varina Elementary stresses this fact. The school encourages parents to get involved with the PTA that does a variety of fundraisers such as gift basket raffles.

My child has continually reported a lack of social engagements, excessive foul language without any correction, violence, bullying, and not engaging class learning and material. Do not recommend.

I know of 3 teachers that go to this school that have a tendency toward public humiliation of their students. The sister school Mehfoud is a stark contrast to this school. Mehfoud's teachers and staff are very loving.

This school is Brilliant. The teachers here are dedicted to the kids and the school has a long history in the community.
