The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
The Test Score Rating reflects annual state test results for this school compared with scores statewide.

If you're going to Madison, there's a couple things you should know. - HCC classes are being taken away - Some teachers are questionable (especially to girls) to say the least - The education is mediocre - VERY cliquey - Bullying culture/lots of fights - Most people are quite addicted to social media - Virtual learning is terrible and in person learning is not that great either - Mediocre arts and music program - Decent sports - Lots of vaping and relationship stuff - You need hall passes to go to the bathroom, and if you run out, sucks to be you - There were shooting threats one year - The bottom floor was evacuated because of a chemistry project turned toxic gas - You can't choose electives in 6th grade Some people have great experiences here, so don't judge based on mine. It might be a great fit for you, I just wouldn't recommend if you take HCC classes/advanced learning. - former student
Madison just cancelled its honors classes from 2020-21 onward (same as all the other middle schools in Seattle.) HCC still exists for the few who can test into it, but everyone else will be stuck with dumbed down general ed.
