Ivy Bound Academy is a publicly funded charter middle school that enrolls students in grades five through eight and specializes in math, science and technology. Strong fine arts, physical education and language arts programs are also present. The original Sherman Oaks campus was founded in 2007, with an additional campus in Northridge, and today Ivy Bound Academy keeps enrollment at fewer than 200 students on each campus are enrolled according to the school’s report card, to maintain a student-teacher ratio of 21 to 1. Most of the student body is highly proficient in math, science and literacy, according to state test scores. Advanced academic courses and extensive training in technology, with an emphasis on computer science, enable students to reach their full potential as they prepare for high school. The school adapts a higher education model for the middle-school-age student in order to promote critical and analytical thinking in a hands-on learning environment. Parents and educators work closely together to help students succeed. Parental involvement helps create a nurturing academic and social environment, in full collaboration with faculty members. In 2021, a new “buddy bench” was donated by a former Ivy Bound Academy family to help prevent bullying by promoting the building of friendships and thereby increasing a positive campus culture.

I can not recommend Ivy Bound Academy more highly. My two children both attended for the four grades (grades 5, 6, 7, 8). The small size and close-knit community was ideal for them. Afterchool they learned robotics and last year they were just starting to incorporate AI into the afterschool program....

Kids are bored, especially the ones who dont have a lot of friends. The kids just sit outdoor, nothing to do socially. The p...
