Notre Dame High School of Los Angeles, home of the Knights, offers students in grades nine through twelve a robust educational curriculum in Sherman Oaks, as it has for more than 70 years. The private, co-educational Catholic high school accepts students of all denominations. Notre Dame’s extensive extracurricular activities focus on building strong leadership skills and strengthening students’ hearts and minds. The athletic department is rich in tradition with a reputation for offering student athletes the chance to compete regularly and win numerous state titles, in a variety of sports for both genders. NDHS is a top-ranked high school among the nation’s accredited Catholic schools and colleges. A group of Holy Cross Brothers associated with the University of Notre Dame in Indiana traveled to Southern California in the 1940s to found an all-boys Catholic high school with the same name. In the early 1980s, girls were allowed to enroll. Sherman Oaks provided the most ideal campus location, due to affordable prices of real estate in the undeveloped Valley and a high demand for parochial education. Named a “school of excellence” by the U.S. Department of Education, NDHS equips students with a lifelong zest of learning through challenging advance placement and honors college prep programs. College acceptance rates are high among NDHS graduates, and alumni are proud of their alma mater’s gift of teaching them how to successfully navigate through life.

The school culture is the best thing about NDHS. Almost every student gets genuinely excited and invested in the rallies, sports games, and spirit days. The teachers also get excited along with the students, and it fosters an incredible sense of community. The academics are also great, with a ton of time for teacher office hours to boost any low grade.

The Principal, Alice Cotti, had a parent meeting telling us all that students should only take AP classes if they can pass the test. Tell your kids not to bother because it looks bad for us if you don't pass the test. So instead of encouraging kids to try and do their best and hey, maybe you should...

I am very happy with the School. My daughter is a sophmore there now and she came from a school that there was constant bullying but here at ND all the kids are really nice. The teachers are amazing the classes small and yes for what you pay ND is a steal in my opinion. I can see the change in my da...

While we had high hopes, the class schedule, the curriculum and the general class size are all poor. They invest more in doors for the cafeteria than class size and better dynamic teaching. We left after the first year disappointed. Great Principal, poor President...he needs to be replaced.
