The Buckley School is a co-educational, private, independent day school for students in kindergarten through high school. Educating the Sherman Oaks community since 1933, the Buckley School offers unique programs at all grade levels that help provide a richer experience of the world at large. Founder Dr. Isabella Buckley developed a specialized system of education known as the Four-Fold Plan, with equal emphasis on academics, the arts, athletics and moral education. Today, these four educational pillars remain at the foundation of The Buckley School. Each year, the school consistently updates its teaching methodologies to reflect current research. Buckley prides itself on offering small classes; the student-teacher ratio is 8 to 1. The school is divided into three levels, lower, middle and upper. Students gain different experiences as they matriculate into each new grade level. A kindergarten class typically consists of two teachers with 22 students. Lower-school class sizes in grades one through five typically have 24 students with one teacher and an associate teacher in each room. Specialty program enrichment classes in the lower level are equipped for smaller groups to receive more individual attention. Class size at the middle level averages 17, and 14 in the upper school. The Buckley School sits on a 33-acre rustic campus nestled in a quiet Sherman Oaks residential neighborhood, where students can comfortably transition through all three school levels while maintaining a strong sense of community for all 12 years of their primary and secondary education.

Extremely disappointed in Buckley School. The administration has failed to adequately address multiple incidents of antisemitism, including ignoring student complaints and allowing harmful rhetoric on campus. Leadership appears more concerned with appeasing faculty than protecting all students. Many families, including ours, have left due to the unsafe and unwelcoming environment.

We've been at Buckley since my rising 9th grader was in Kindergarten and we absolutely love it. We applied to Buckley because, at 5, we had a science kid on our hands and Buckley's upper school science facilities were awe inspiring. Cut to several years later we actually have a creative artist on our hands. He's been able to explore film making, script writing, chorus, a capella and more. It's been a great experience all the way through lower and middle school and we're looking forward to high school.

Overall not really a good school. The tuition for this school is not justifiable and needs to lower it. The Buckley school needs to understand that the tuition does not match their sports and academics and college prep. Buckley should improve everything and not make it so expensive. They have to know their place. Buckley is more expensive than HW and CH and doesn't even compete with them.

If you want to pay 50,000 a year for a school with no real identity and underperformance relative to other schools that charge similar tuition, Buckley is the school for you. I really am sorry to put it so antagonistically like that, but hopefully this message will help people reading this save thei...

Buckley has undergone changes that have had a negative impact on the quality of education and the ability of families to express their concerns without fear of retaliation from an administration that prioritizes indoctrination over education.During the pandemic, I voiced concerns about certain new p...

I completely understand the 1-star schools, as a middle schooler, I haven't suffered the worst of the Buckley. But do not be fooled by the 5-star reviews, they claim that the low reviews are helicopter parents but I actually agree with those reviews because it reveals how obnoxious Buckley is at kee...

Way to difficult in grades 9 and up. Run like a military school. Have not kept up with what students need and he to teach, as most schools haven’t.No leadership sat top. And no one listens to parents.Run by an old fashion board of directors.
