Standing tall among Houston’s premier private schools, the diverse Post Oak School provides classical Montessori education for preschool through high school. Opened in 1963, Post Oak’s Bellaire campus at 4600 Bissonnet St. educates early childhood through fifth-grade students. After fifth grade, students can move to the school’s secondary campus in the nearby Museum District. At Post Oak, children learn to understand the world to help make it a better place. In true Montessori fashion, the school embraces collaboration, choice and cooperation. Although students learn a core science, English language arts, math and social studies curriculum, they're encouraged to dive deeper into subjects that pique their interests. One of The Post Oak School’s initiatives to benefit the community is the Houston Montessori Institute. Founded in 2012, the institute helps train the next generation of guides and assistants. Institute students can go on to earn a Master of Education in Montessori studies. Parent and professional development workshops are also held at the institute. This campus serves children ages 14 to 36 months, primary students ages three to six and elementary students in first through sixth grades. The lower school educates about 350 students in total.

I highly recommend Post Oak. I have had a wonderful experience there with three children across Young Children's Community, Primary, and Elementary. The teachers are excellent. The way they apply the Montessori method and prepared environment is outstanding. The classroom communities foster an independence, confidence, and creativity in the kids.

The Post Oak School has such an amazing community and I love being a part of it because it allows me to grow and learn. I love the one on one time we have with teachers and I love that my teachers allow me to explore my own interests through internships and community service. Post Oak is a school that I am proud to be a part of and I love every moment of it. It's a school where I am looking forward to going to school every day.

Post oak is not a typical school, but it's the community and independence that makes it so unique and awesome for me. I love the freedom post oak gives its students and sense of community I have walking in every day. All the teachers care about my well being as well as grades and all the students are nice and know me by name.

If you don’t mind the bias that goes on at this school towards big donor families then continue to apply to get in. If you don’t mind paying tuition and not getting the teaching that your child should be getting, then it’s the school for you. The teacher did nothing for my child to get the reading s...

We have been at Post Oak going on 6 years now. Our two children have thrived in the emotionally nurturing and academically rigorous environment. I think what sets the rigor apart from more traditional education methods is that my children don't even realize that what they are learning and carrying o...

We had a horrible experience at this school that left us, and more importantly, our child never wanting to go back to The Post Oak school ever! Our child was physically and mentally bullied by the other students in her class. She would come home telling us all kinds of horror stories. We tried to ta...
