A public college-preparatory school, Will Rogers focuses on providing middle school and high school students the skills they need for higher education. College courses taken by junior and senior high school students amounts for almost half of the college credits earned by all Tulsa Public Schools students. Celebrated alumni include writers, doctors, athletes and more. Students need to apply separately for middle school and high school enrollment. With just over 1,600 students, Will Rogers has a smaller population than other similar schools in the area. Classes remain broad and challenging, with many students learning subjects outside of the core curriculum. Extra-curricular courses include visual and performing arts classes, athletic programs and leadership opportunities, such as student council. The school has several community partners in the city. Their partnership with the University of Tulsa brings classes on cybersecurity to the school, and their 21st Century Grant partner provides students with many after-school activities at no cost. The school’s building has also been recognized for its beauty and historical standing. Built in 1939, it has been renovated throughout the years, and was once named the Most Beautiful School in Oklahoma by Architectural Digest. Additionally, the school is a recognized National Historic Landmark. Garnering success through its multitude of programs, Will Rogers is a staple academic institution in Tulsa and in the Turner Park neighborhood.
