The Valley Beth Shalom Harold M. Schulweis Day School proudly serves just over 215 elementary school students from kindergarten through sixth grade in their private school located in Encino, California.
Named after Harold M. Schulwei, an influential Rabbi, The Valley Beth Shalom Harold M. Schulweis Day School was established in the 1970s. While much has changed since the school was established, the lasting values of Valley Beth Shalom Day School have remained intact over the years.
Rabbi Deborah Schuldenfrei currently serves as the Head of School at Valley Beth Shalom, where a strong academic education is paired with a wholistic learning approach and an emphasis on Judaic studies. This approach helps students to not only grow their intellect, but their character and spirituality as well.
Valley Beth Shalom Day School’s curriculum also reflects a deep belief in art education, with both an emphasis on Fine Arts, where students learn about art history and artistic techniques, and Performing Arts where students have the opportunity to take part in musical and dramatic performances. Music education, with an emphasis on Judaic music is also integrated into the cirriculum, starting in kindergarten.
Valley Beth Shalom’s quest to help students transform into well rounded individuals does not end with the school day. Students can take part in several after school clubs like Performing Arts, Robotics, or Chess. Valley Beth Shalom offers students in fourth through sixth grade the opportunity to participate in team sports such as basketball, flag football, soccer, and volleyball.

It’s a great school that is more like a community and everyone is like your family! The administration and teachers are very supportive and helpful. My 3 children attend VBS day school and it’s so beautiful to see how much they are learning academically, about technology and Every day life.

We have found this school to be a wonderful start to our kids' education. The community is fantastic, the teachers and administrators all really care about the students, and the kids love being there. If Jewish education is important to your family, there's no better school in the valley.

VBSDS is great! All three of my kids go there. I have attended the school for 6 years with my oldest. The education is superb. The amount of technology they have in the school is amazing. The things the kids are learning! All the opportunities it provides for the kids to speak and perform in public....
