4 Reasons to Love Greenville, South Carolina

by Sonya BarkerOctober 24, 2014

I am so excited to share some local love with y’all today. I live about 20 minutes from downtown Greenville, South Carolina. I think it is one of the best cities to live in or near, as well as to visit in the south. If you have never traveled to Greenville, I am going to give you four reasons why you should.

Family Friendly

There are so many things to do as a family in Greenville. Kids and adults of all ages will love the Greenville Zoo. A fun night coming up in October is “Boo in the Zoo.” “Greenville Zoo‘s annual family-friendly Halloween event for children ages 12 and under features trick-or-treating, fun-filled booths and an un-haunted house. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and evleryone is invited to come in costume. Tickets go on sale October 3 for Greenville Zoo members and October 13 for the general public.”
After you leave the zoo, plan to have a picnic outside at Cleveland Park. Plenty of lush greenery with paved and unpaved paths for walkers and bikers.

Greenville has so many talented artists that display their work in public places all around town. You can also stop by galleries, shops or visit open studios.

You will want to take lots of pictures of the architecture to post on Instagram while you are walking around downtown. This city has the perfect combination of restored old buildings meeting new design.

Here is where you will have so many options to sit and rest from touring around, while enjoying great good. One of my favorites places to eat inexpensively with a group is Liberty Tap Room, especially if you love a great burger.
