Warm up for Winter with Hot Citrus Punch
My mom made the best drink during the holidays. I called it “hot drink” growing up but since that doesn’t sound very snazzy I decided to go with a more descriptive name. For me this hot drink is to winter what cider is to fall. I can’t imagine not making it when the weather outside starts getting frightful. To me, there is nothing more relaxing in the winter than an evening at home by the fire with the ones I love and a cup of hot citrus punch.
This drink is very simple to make and can simmer on the stove all afternoon making your kitchen smell amazing. You can even prepare it in a slow cooker.
Hot Citrus Punch
- 2 cups sugar (can be substituted with 1 cup honey)
- 2 cups orange juice
- 3/4 cup lemon juice
- 2 quarts water
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 teaspoons almond extract
Heat and stir juices, water, and sugar until the sugar has dissolved. Then turn down heat and add the vanilla and almond extracts.
