How to Throw the Perfect Summer BBQ

Sun, sand and backyard bbqs – that’s what summer is all about! Hosting a backyard BBQ doesn’t have to be stressful. With some cold cocktails, easy side dishes and of course friends and family, you can have a hassle-free BBQ in no time!

Keep it Casual

The uniform of summer is flip flops and shorts, so there’s no need to break out the fancy china for a backyard bash! Display plastic flatware, napkins and plates in cute caddies or buckets. At the end of the party you’ll be left with zero dishes to clean – score!

Cocktails & Drinks

An ice cold cocktail is essential to a hot summer BBQ. Why not serve a simple Greyhound (grapefruit juice and vodka) for a tart, refreshing cocktail. For something a little sweeter and less tart, a Strawberry Moscow Mule is a perfect go-to for summer! Get the recipe!

Not into fruity cocktails? Throw some white wine and beer into a galvanized tub filled with ice and let guests serve themselves. Keep a water dispenser outside as well for people to stay hydrated! Fill dispenser with fruit for some natural flavor.

It’s not a BBQ unless the grill is fired up. Assign someone the grill master and have him/her cook burgers, dogs and bratwursts for the crowd. To keep the meat warm throughout the party, stick it in a low temp oven covered in foil. For side dishes, you can’t go wrong with chips and dip or a chilled salad like this Lemon Orzo Salad that’s perfect for hot summer days.

Icy Desserts

To close out the BBQ, serve store-bought popsicles in a tub or cooler filled with ice. Casual, delicious and refreshing – perfect for a laid back BBQ!

Crank up the music with this perfect playlist. With these easy tips, you’ll be inviting the gang over every weekend to celebrate the long days of summer! Happy BBQ-ing!
