If Johnny Appleseed could earn a famous reputation that would eventually make him one of the most beloved American legends, the least you could do is pick a few apples! While you probably won’t become a folklore anytime soon, these apple orchards are calling your name! These acres of apple trees offer a charming hobby and fun activity for your next trip!
A map of the best cities for apple picking.

  1. Kiyokawa Family Orchards: Parkdale, Oregon

This orchard has been a Parkdale staple for generations. Founded in 1911, this orchard offers apple and pear harvesting. There is also a Honey Crisp Festival held at the orchard, and guests can enjoy jars of honey, jams, and other treats.

  2. Riley’s Farm: Oak Glen, California

Visitors to Riley’s Farm get to do more than just pick fruit – this farm offers educational events on topics such as the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, the Gold Rush, and more. This family-owned farm has nearly 760 acres and also offers dinner theater events, hayrides, and more.

  3. Stribling Orchard: Markham, Virginia

This historic orchard has family ties dating back over two centuries. Guests can enjoy apple picking, apple ciders, wines, and all things apple. The best part about this orchard is that it’s nestled in the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountain region of Virginia. For apple lovers, you can pick any variety from McIntosh to Red and Golden Delicious.

  4. Weston’s Apple Orchard: New Berlin, Wisconsin

This orchard was developed in 1935 and is the oldest in Waukesha County. The orchard is a conservatory for antique varieties of apples including Calville Blanc d’Hiver, Gravenstein, and Old Church apples. The orchard functions as a non-profit organization, and donations are always accepted to keep the legacy of antique apples going!
