American Idol Sells Home
Carrie Underwood, the country music pop sensation who got her start as the fourth winner of the television singing competition American Idol way back in 2005, has just listed her Nashville, Tennessee-area mansion for just under one and half million dollars.
Underwood is a singer, songwriter, and actress whose debut single came in at number one on the pop charts (only country song ever to do so). She has won multiple Grammy Awards for her multiple best-selling albums, appeared in films and popular television programs, and is also a philanthropist.
The home she is selling is located in a guard-gated golf development in Brentwood, Tennessee, a small town about twenty miles from Nashville. The home is somewhat infamous for being the location of an accident the celebrity suffered that left her with a fractured wrist and forty stitches. Underwood apparently missed a step while venturing out with her dogs, landing so that both her wrist and face were injured in the fall. She has reportedly made a full recovery and is moving on in her life, leaving the home behind.
A Luxurious Mansion in a Gated Tennessee Community
Underwood is asking $1.45 million for the four-bedroom, six bath home of just over seven thousand square feet. She purchased the home for $1.352 million a little more than a decade ago, and stands to only gain a little profit if she can attract a buyer willing to pay what she’s asking. Underwood and her husband, Canadian professional hockey player Mike Fisher, occupied the home from the beginning of their relationship until last year.
The home has been described as an Italian-style villa, though it more resembles a contemporary American traditional in architecture. It is three stories tall, and lavishly appointed with top-quality materials throughout, including gorgeous hardwoods, beautiful white marble, white brick, and stone.
The home features a spiral staircase; a well-appointed contemporary kitchen; a master suite with a gas fireplace, his and hers vanities, and a walk-through shower; a finished walkout basement complete with heated marble floors, a wet bar, a gym, a den, and much more.
The Park-Like Setting of Carrie Underwood’s TN Mansion
Underwood’s mansion is situated just off the first tee of a private golf resort, and comes complete with sweeping views of the manicured grounds of the course, its water features, and the rolling Tennessee hills beyond. The home and its grounds were designed to blend seamlessly into the park-like setting of the golf resort.
The mansion comes with a covered porch that looks out over the course, pictured with rocking chairs and ceiling fans for that bucolic Southern feel that practically screams country estate, minus the sweating pitcher of sweet tea or lemonade.
A Country Home With a Country Pedigree
It remains to be seen how much of a selling point the fact that one of contemporary country music’s brightest stars having once owned and occupied will be to prospective buyers. But, it certainly can’t hurt! Without Underwood’s stamp of approval on the home, it might still be worth the asking price, but it might not have the same stories to tell.
