The birds are chirping, flowers are blooming, and the world is just getting all-around prettier. Folks are making big plans for their yards, or for their future homes; the coming of spring is a signal of excitement for many.
With the coming of spring, we thought it would be a great idea to round up three amazing DIY bloggers for a very special project. Their task? Overhaul a Little Tikes Cape Cottage Playhouse™ that looks like the embodiment of spring! Whether it’s an English cottage with a moss roof, a rustic bungalow with Duck Blue walls, or a pastel-colored Easter escape, our contestants dreamed it up and brought it to life.
This is where you come in!
Each blogger created a step-by-step tutorial on how they made their one-of-a-kind spring homes. This time around, we decided to raise the stakes and implement some design requirements, too
- A flower box or flower bed installation
- Some sort of yard art
- An “Easter egg” feature. It doesn’t need to be an actual Easter egg, but something unexpected hidden within the design of the cottage.
You, as part of our esteemed panel of judges, are also asked to vote with these criteria in mind:
- Functionality
- Could a child actually play in this?
- Creativity
- How well the above design elements are incorporated
- Design
- Overall aesthetic and style of the playhouse
Check out the amazing cottages the bloggers created and their step-by-step tutorials for how they crafted such masterpieces. This time, we partnered with At Charlotte’s House, Thistlewood Farms, and Thrift Diving. (The competition is steep.)
The best part? Just by voting, you have a chance at winning a $250 gift card and the winning blogger will be able to send $750 to the charity of her choice– everyone wins! So spring into the dream and cast your vote!

I’d like to vote for At Charlotte’s house edition!
OMG! I loved the thatched roof on Charlotte’s House.
But, every other little detail and difficulty involved in achieving those details was won by Little Tykes House hands down! The stenciling around the front door had to have been a little difficult. And hand painting each brick. Then she makes a custom Easter egg table and lamp. I didn’t like the roof color. But, that’s just my taste. I would have preferred something a little more natural or neutral.
What a fun project. Wish I had a little one in my family to do my own creative playhouse for. Great Job! You each did a wonderful transformation.
Serena’s house is simply darling! Makes me want to move right in and serve tea and deviled eggs!
Hats off to each lady for participating and displaying such creativity. I truly like what Serena did with the Easter Egg lamp and table along with the wreath on the door. I could just see my great granddaughter playing in that house. Best wishes to each of you.
It makes me wish I had little ones to have a tea party with. Love Serena’s little house
My vote is for Thistlewood Farms entry.
Thrift Diving – Love it! The egg detail on the table and stenciled doorway is everything!! 🙂
