Although small, the Buffalo community of Cold Springs includes several homes and Canisius University. The Freedom Wall is a collection of murals on the southern tip of the community that commemorates notable activists. The neighborhood's housing options range from bungalows and American Foursquares to multi-family homes and apartments; some are decorated with colorful murals. While some homes have driveways or garages, others are limited to parking on the street. Cold Springs residents have their choice of local dining options, including Imperial Pizza, Trini's Caribbean cuisine and Buffalo's Golden Corner for steak hoagies. The nearby grocery store, Tops Friendly Markets, reopened after a tragic event in 2022; the establishment features a memorial mural and sunflower plantings. Masten Park, located about a mile and a half south, offers sports amenities. Residents can visit the nearby MLK Jr. Park, which contains a seasonal splash pad, playground equipment and the Buffalo Museum of Science. Delaware Park, covering 350 acres, features a golf course, zoo, and lake with paddleboard rentals. Located about 2 miles north of downtown, the area is bordered by the city's medical corridor and popular Delaware Park. Lining Main Street are public transit options, including multiple bus stops and a Light Rail station. Despite its density, Cold Springs maintains a low-traffic environment, providing a quieter urban living experience.
