As one ventures farther into its residential streets, Foxcroft’s landscape transforms from apartment complexes, condos and luxury townhouses to high-end subdivisions and gated communities. The neighborhood’s architectural styles are diverse, but most detached homes are spacious, with an average of over 4,000 square feet. Beneath the enclave’s towering canopies are brick Colonial Revivals, stately Millenium Mansions, charming French-inspired homes and sleek midcentury modern ranch-styles. “The large lots are very appealing,” says Ashley McMillan, a Realtor with Dickens Mitchener Real Estate. Rod Stephen, who owns Rod Stephen Real Estate, agrees: "It’s not uncommon to see buyers purchasing smaller houses for the land and building flashy modern homes on them.”

Highly desirable homes with equally high prices
The median sale price in Foxcroft is around $2 million. That’s nearly five times more than Charlotte’s median, and much higher than that of other SouthPark-area neighborhoods, such as Barclay Downs, Myers Park, Beverly Woods and Sharon Woods.
Condos typically fall between the lower $300,000s and the mid-$500,000s
Townhouses start in the lower $600,000s and can exceed $1.5 million
Most detached homes range from the upper $800,000s to about $6 million
But some custom mansions can exceed $7 million
Top schools and a highly rated school district serve Foxcroft families
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools offers school choice through an annual lottery, which families can use to get students into magnet schools and specialty programs. However, Foxcroft families often opt for the neighborhood’s zoned schools, Sharon Elementary School, Alexander Graham Middle School and Myers Park High School, which are all highly rated. There are also top-rated private schools nearby, including Charlotte Country Day School, Charlotte Jewish Day School and Charlotte Christian School.

South Charlotte offers high-end shopping, dining and entertainment
“I love the walkability and the wealth of amenities,” says Lisa Emory, a Foxcroft resident and a Realtor with Compass. The neighborhood borders some of Charlotte's most popular shopping and dining destinations, including SouthPark, a mall home to more than 150 retailers, such as Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Tory Burch. “The finest shopping in Charlotte is at SouthPark,” says Emory, who adds that locals love the Summer Pops concert series at Symphony Park, an outdoor amphitheater next to the mall. Area grocery stores range from Publix and Harris Teeter to Whole Foods Market, and there’s a variety of locally owned restaurants to satisfy any foodie. “There’s Foxcroft Wine Co., which is very neat and unique. They’ve got a great wine selection and good appetizers,” says McMillan. She also recommends Barrington’s, a date-night favorite for New American fare. Other nearby amenities include Park Road Park and the Little Sugar Creek Greenway.

Short commutes to Uptown by car or by bus
Most residents drive to get around, but there are CATS bus stops in the neighborhood. Uptown Charlotte, comprised of the First Ward, Second Ward, Third Ward and Fourth Ward, is less than 7 miles away. The commute, which doesn’t require any highway driving, can take as little as 12 minutes or as long as 35 minutes, depending on traffic. Charlotte Douglas International Airport is around 11 miles away.

A neighborly community with trails and clubs
Residents often lead active lives, taking advantage of the neighborhood’s wooded and paved walking trails. “Foxcroft has a walking path that goes all the way through it. There’s actually a tunnel that goes under Fairview Road, so you can walk to some of the stores and restaurants over there without having to cross the street,” McMillan says. Many residents are also members of Foxcroft Hills, a swim and racquet club with competitive teams. Some residents are members of South Charlotte’s prestigious country clubs, such as the invitation-only Myers Park Country Club.
