Mid-century bi-levels and ranch styles

Many of Allenview's homeowners have been there for decades, but newer homebuyers are also coming into the community. “We’re seeing a little bit of resurgence in that area,” says Realtor Misty Metschke, who sells homes in the neighborhood with Hunziker & Associates. “People are buying these homes that people have lived in for 20 to 30 years and are now updating them.” The neighborhood is composed of a mix of 1960s bi-levels and ranch styles that are priced from $260,000 to $400,000. The yards are shaded by old-growth trees, and the streets are lined with sidewalks. Residents may hear some noise from a train track that runs past the neighborhood’s west side. “You may get a train that runs once or twice a day. And Ames has a no horn ordinance,” Metschke explains.
